It’s been well over two months since I have been able to sit down and post anything. I plan to sit down later and try to post some images of my journey getting home to Louisiana. It’s been trials and tribulations.
Well as you can see I have not been able to keep up with the photo-a-day challenge. Here is why…Over the last several days I have been helping my sister pack up her house so she can move back home to Louisiana and start her new job on Monday, February 10th, 2014. My brother-in-law will be in tow to also start his new job sometime this month. I have also been preparing to move as well. My husband and I have been finishing projects around the house that need to be done. My sister’s house is on the market while our house is not. We have a lot to do and little time to do it. So while helping her I am away from my own things I need to be doing. Therefore I think today I am going to stay home and try and work on my house a little bit. My husband went to the building supply store to get stuff we needed. It’s now in the house acclimating to room temperature since it’s 1 degree outside.
So I will post some more pictures to get me through days 5-15 and then maybe afterwhile I will post some more.
Today we launched a tee spring campaign for our friend and coworker Paula Bagnell. Paula is a spectacular RN that has worked in the ICU at GPRMC for eons. She is also a Flight RN. She it’s fighting Stage IV Non-hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She is a super rock star that has been through her first round of chemo while still working passing with flying colors. She is a very strong faith-based woman and she’s not afraid to tell you or show you. She loves to dance and that’s her way of celebrating her life and the joy of all of our friendships. So please join us in raising Lymphoma awareness by making a purchasing from the following tee spring campaign site:
We have a goal of 100 sold items. The printer will only take our design to production if we meet that goal. This has to happen no later than February 9th at 7pm CST. All proceeds will go to Paula and her family.
UPDATE: Paula has decided to donate all of the funds raised for her to Baby Kohen. Kohen was born with a Neuroblastoma from underdeveloped nerves. He and his family have had to make several trips to Children’s Hospital for tests and treatments.
I have only posted up to day 4 of 365 in my quest to be successful in the photo-a-day challenge. I have the photos just haven’t had time to edit and post them. I think I may work on that “today.”
Life has been pretty hectic lately as you have read by my last post. Plumbing issues being the main headache. Trust me not something you want to have to deal with. Well I’ll bid you farewell for a bit as I leave you to attempt to get some editing done so I can catch up on the photo-a-day challenge.
Okay so I am several days behind now…well let me tell you it’s certainly not because I am lazy or can’t keep up with this photo-a-day challenge. Since visiting the Eagles on Friday I have had to deal with drainage pipe issues at my house. It has damn near caused chaos in my house between my husband and I. It got really bad Monday morning around 6AM when I decided to do a load of laundry since I was up. I put the clothes in the washer and started and I usually forget about it till I hear it click done and I go put the clothes in the dryer. Well I heard it click and I did as I normally do then decided I was going to go back to bed for a little while. BIG MISTAKE! I walked past the bathroom door to discover an inch of water on the floor along with this sludge in the tub and toilet. I was livid! I texted my husband some “choice” words and basically said I have had it!! GET IT FIXED!!
He called the plumber and we had “Company #1” come out…Well they sent “Tweedledee” and “Tweedledum” and they augured the line going away from the house put antifreeze down the line and told us to let the water trickle because there was ice and a soap scum build up in the line. So being good patrons we did as they told us only to wake up from our nap to the sound of pipes gurgling. We springing out of bed to find the water backing up in the sink. So we let it drain vvveeerrryyy ssslllooowwwlllyyy. Now mind you we can’t wash clothes or dishes nor can we shower or use the toilet. If you have had to be without these amenities for any period of time then you have felt my suffering. There was nothing we could do this night as both of us had to work overnight. So we used as little water as possible to clean up before work and that was that.
Next morning…I phone “Company #1” again and stated that we needed to figure out what needed to be done as the problem I had reported yesterday is still not fixed. I was passed around to several people to whom I had to explain my issue to each time. By the time I was to the correct person I am…well I’ll just say it I am pissed. I explain my story ONE more time to this guy and he tells me “Tweedledee” is not in yet but he will visit with him upon arrival and call me back. I have yet to get a phone call back.
I am too pissed at “Company #1” to even try to call again so my husband calls “Company #2” they were at my house in 20 minutes. ONE guy came ALONE and spent 3 hours at my house trying to fix the problem and finally discovered that we had an outdated trap under the house causing the sludge, 3 feet of it in fact, to back up. He cut the old trap out replaced it with new and did a few other preventative measures. He turned the faucet in the tub and the sink on full blast and let it run. He said if it was going to back up somewhere he was going to be there when it happened and he would fix it. THANK GOD nothing backed up. He is my hero!!!!
Yes I spouted off how I didn’t want to be behind on my photo-a-day challenge and here I am TWO days behind. Well I did make my trip to Lake Ogallala and over to Lake McConaughy on Friday 1/3/14 as planned and I did get to see a few Eagles. HOWEVER, they were not in a photographic mood. I think of all of my images taken that day I have one that you can actually see an Eagle in. The rest do have birds but they are not what my mission was about. Here are the few decent shots from the Lakes.
Day 3 of 365 is my only Eagle shot…
Day 4 of 365 is my beautiful baby girl Whiskey…
Day 5 of 365…Well it’s only 0330 where I am right now so I have a little time to develop an image for this day. I am going to try to think outside the box today. It’s freezing cold right now with a temperature of 11 degrees feeling like -2 degrees. Think I might go turn on some faucets and let them trickle. I am always afraid of pipes busting. Catch ya’ll later!!
Today a group of 6 of us are going to see the Eagles at Lake Ogallala so I will definitely have my Day 3 of 365 image(s). I am really trying to keep on track with this. I think it’s an amazing thing to see how you progress throughout the year. It’s also a challenge to get a photo-a-day when life sometimes throws you a curve ball and you can’t get out there and capture the images you truly want. That’s where your creative juices have to get flowing. So I bid you a farewell and see you again this evening. I AM SO PUMPED!!
It seems as though I have gone off subject a few times so I have changed the sight name to “My Photography Journey.” This is not because someone has complained, asked me to change or for any other negative reason. I feel as though I need to be able to broaden my journey with any photos I wish. I would say after all, as I have said before, this is “MY” blog. I definitely don’t mean any of this in a negative way simply more along the lines of information. Now with that being said lets begin…
Today I have decided that since I was working on the 1st and technically the 2nd of January I want a “mulligan” for those two days. I want to post pictures that are near and dear to my heart. So I will be posting two images here that were taken before today but better represent my photography.
The first image is at Sutherland Reservoir at sunset on a cold January day. The second image is of an old horse drawn road grader sitting atop a hill just above Lake Ogallala also taken in January. This is where the Eagles live during the winter!! I get to see the Eagles tomorrow!! So excited!!
